Celebrating Two Years of Impact: TRANS Program Anniversary Gala Highlights Community, Advocacy, and Hope

On June 27, community members, advocates, allies, and supporters gathered in Biloxi, Mississippi, to celebrate an important milestone—the 2nd Annual TRANS Program Anniversary Gala.

The evening served as both a celebration of the organization's accomplishments and a reflection on the work that remains ahead. Over the past two years, the TRANS Program has become a leading voice for transgender and non-binary individuals across Mississippi, providing resources, advocacy, education, and support services that help create safer, more affirming communities.

Hosted at The Sanctuary in Biloxi, the gala brought together supporters from across the state for an evening of fellowship, storytelling, recognition, and inspiration. Guests enjoyed dinner, entertainment, testimonials, awards, and presentations highlighting the organization's growth and impact since becoming a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Throughout the evening, speakers reflected on the challenges facing transgender and non-binary individuals, including barriers related to healthcare, housing, employment, legal protections, and mental health support. Despite these challenges, the event emphasized the resilience, strength, and determination of a community committed to creating positive change.

One of the most powerful themes of the evening was the importance of belonging. Through peer support initiatives, leadership development opportunities, advocacy efforts, and direct services, the TRANS Program has worked to ensure that transgender and non-binary individuals have access to resources, community, and opportunities to thrive.

Over the past year alone, the organization has connected with more than 1,000 transgender and non-binary individuals through programs focused on community building, education, advocacy, resource navigation, legal name and gender marker assistance, mental health support, and leadership development. The organization also continues to support parents, families, partners, and allies seeking education and guidance as they navigate their own journeys of support and affirmation.

The stories shared during the gala were a reminder that community-centered organizations play a critical role in improving lives. Attendees heard firsthand accounts of individuals who found support, purpose, connection, and hope through the services and relationships built by the TRANS Program.

Events like the Anniversary Gala demonstrate the power of community investment and collective action. They create opportunities to celebrate progress, honor those doing the work, and reaffirm a shared commitment to building a Mississippi where transgender and non-binary individuals are valued, respected, and empowered.
