Celebrating Visibility, Community, and Inclusion at Transgender Day of Visibility 2026

On April 4, 2026, community members, advocates, organizations, and allies gathered at Fondren Park in Jackson, Mississippi, for the annual Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV) Event, hosted by the Campaign for Southern Equality and Molly's House. The event brought together a diverse coalition of organizations, community leaders, and supporters dedicated to celebrating transgender and gender-diverse individuals while promoting visibility, inclusion, and access to resources.

Designed as a day of connection, celebration, and empowerment, the event featured speakers, entertainment, community resources, food, vendors, giveaways, and opportunities for meaningful engagement. Attendees were encouraged to connect with local organizations, access supportive services, and celebrate the strength and resilience of transgender communities throughout Mississippi.

The event was made possible through the collaboration of numerous community partners, including My Brother's Keeper, Inc., Open Arms Healthcare Center, the LGBTQ Fund of Mississippi, Grace House Services, Gulf Coast Equality, Safe Harbor Family Church, Open Door Mennonite Church, Capital City Pride, and many others committed to advancing equity and inclusion across the state.

As part of the day's activities, the Open Arms Healthcare Center Mobile Unit was onsite providing free HIV testing, health education, and prevention resources. By bringing healthcare services directly into the community, the mobile unit helped increase access to affirming care while creating opportunities for education and engagement. During the event, 10 individuals received HIV testing services, including transgender community members and allies.

Transgender Day of Visibility serves as an important reminder that visibility matters. Events like TDOV help foster understanding, strengthen community connections, and create spaces where individuals can feel seen, supported, and celebrated for who they are.

Jackson Black Pride, My Brother's Keeper, Inc., and Open Arms Healthcare Center were honored to participate in this year's event and support the important work being led by the Campaign for Southern Equality, Molly's House, and their community partners. Together, we continue working toward a future where all people have access to the resources, support, and opportunities they need to thrive.
