At the very heart of Jackson Black Pride Week lies a commitment to the well-being and holistic health of the Black LGBTQ+ community, and nowhere is this commitment more apparent than at the Jackson Black Pride Health Summit. This year's theme: 'One Team, One Love' | Embracing CommUNITY & Culture.
Spanning a series of meticulously curated sessions, the summit doesn't merely present generic information. Instead, it is tailored to address the unique experiences and challenges faced by the Black LGBTQ+ community, especially within Mississippi. We've harnessed the power of data to guide our workshops, ensuring that each discussion, panel, and educational session is rooted in evidence and contemporary realities.
Our goal? To foster a comprehensive understanding of health, be it mental, physical, or emotional, and address the intertwined issues of racism, sexism, and homophobia that often act as barriers. A particular emphasis is placed on the all-important mission to eradicate HIV and counteract the stigmas associated with it.
But this summit isn't just about individual health. It’s about community empowerment. By arming participants with knowledge, resources, and a network of support, we aim to transform every individual into a beacon of progress, an advocate, and, most importantly, an agent of positive change for the Black LGBTQ+ community.
