ABOUT
JXN BLK PRIDE
MISSION & HISTORY.
Though the Black PRIDE movement began more than 20 years ago in the U.S., social and political issues arise each year bringing the Black LGBTQ+ community and allies together to collectively address the intersections of racism, sexism, homophobia, and lack of inclusion that impacts the daily lives of many. At the epicenter of the JBP celebration is the Jackson Black PRIDE Health Summit. This is a series of data-driven, health-focused workshops, panels, and educational sessions designed to engage and empower people living the Black LGBTQ+ experience. The event represents a network of organizations, champions, and communities invested in the ongoing efforts to eliminate stigma, eradicate HIV and elevate Black LGBTQ+ voices in Mississippi.
Each year, the Jackson Black PRIDE experience continues to morph into a greater, richer opportunity to laugh, learn and live authentically while building the capacity of each participant to become an agent for progress for and within the Black LGBTQ+ community.
My Brother’s Keeper, Inc. is proud to present and support this year’s events, and we look forward to seeing you there. Happy Black PRIDE!
